I've noticed with my male relatives who seek out these "low-maintenance" women that there are always strings attached that eventually come out; i.e., money problems, student loans, looking to get a green card, children, etc. Alas, there's no such thing as a free lunch. You don't mention money, but I assume those low-maintenance women are also expected to have steady jobs (but not ones where they earn more than the man), with work hours that don't conflict with what ever the man wants to do. They're expected to pay their own way, even though they should never expect to get their own way. A financially self-sufficient woman with a steady job has no need to be submissive to some self-centered chump.
